A Hard Read
I am reading two texts for my edtech 572 class, 'The Systematic Design of Instruction' by Dick, Carey and Carey, and 'Instructional-Design Theories and Models' by Reigeluth. The D,C & C book is well written and very clear and concise. The Reigeluth book , however, is one tough read. At 715 pages, it is very wordy and, in my opinion, is in dire need of revision. The language used is difficult to follow and I find my self re-reading passages several times, only to find I cannot recall, nor can I easily find, the passages when needed by the next day. Perhaps the book is not intended for Masters degree level graduate students, or perhaps I am the only one who finds it difficult. Anyhow, I hope it will at least, in addition to teaching me the subject at hand, help me to read at this higher level.
